  • Basal

    Appearance similar to Basic Humans

    Average Lifespan: 70-90 Years

The Basal are not magik or tech inclined, nor have any unique traits. While they may learn to wield magik via study or tech via cybernetics, it does not come naturally and often fail in their practices. With no advantages they are a dwindling population, to which none seem to care. There is no advantage for the Basal, all others have taken to evolution one way or another to Eerie or Wired.

  • Eerie

    Appearance similar to Magik Humans

    Average Lifespan: 90-110 Years

The Eerie are magik inclined humans who can trace their lineage as far back as any Astral. There are differences of belief of where this power comes from, some having constructed their own god, while others still hold on to the names of old ones. Yet, none of the gods answered a single prayer during the Scourge. Then there are those who still pray to the planet who has long since drowned, the soul abstracted in aether in various forms.

The Eerie do not require cybernetics to use magik but must have an Aether crystal on their person in some form, whether it's raw, jewelry, a trinket, ect. If they do not have this item, or it is taken from physical contact, they cannot cast spells, perform rituals, or do any other magik work. The type of magik also depends on each Eerie's preference, whether a quick draw of an element or the long process of a ritual to hex another.

What every Eerie know and whisper among themselves is that a return to magik is necessary to preserve the dead planet's legacy.

  • Wired

    Appearance similar to Cyberized Humans

    Average Lifespan: 70-90 Years

The Wired are tech inclined humans, the ones who know how to manage an attachment on an email. While any human can become wired, it's not always by choice, since even regular prosthetics are powered by Aether. Those that do elect to alter themselves with synthetic replacements can either do such for aesthetic or for function.

All cybernetics are powered by Aether, whether embedded internally or slotted externally, and must be recharged weekly. The usage of cybernetics does not inhibit nor amplify the usage of magik. No one can become a full cyborg due to Aether power constraints, nor are there any known sentient robots.

All the Wired are warned before their first installation that if Aether dies globally their parts will be left nonfunctional.

AsTRal

  • Archaic

Appearance similar to Elves, Fae, Changelings, & Elementals

    Average Lifespan: 80-180 Years

The Archaic were the first of the civilized world, not that any records remain to confirm such. Still, it is sentiment the elders cling to, often using such to vie for positions of leadership or favor among the masses. The younger generations find themselves drawn towards the stars instead, as if waiting for the skies to speak again like they had during the Scourge.

Like any other natural magik user they find they can no longer draw on the power without help, having to use an Aether crystal for channeling like everyone else, much to their chagrin. The usage of cybernetics has dramatically increased since the Scourge, some equating it to a new stage of evolution although the older generations are not convinced. The youthful zealots believe wholeheartedly that tech is the start of their ascendancy, yet none can say to what state of higher being.

The secret a handful of them hold is knowledge of the Scourge and just what the twenty years of raining meteors brought to the surface.

  • Primordial

Appearance similar to Angels, Demons, Tieflings, & Celestials

    Average Lifespan: 100-200 Years

The Primordial are exactly as they are named, embodying the oldest harnessed magik of the known world. The origins of each race has been lost to the waters, and still the traditions and mannerisms remain ingrained in their blood. It is a common wish among their collective populace to reclaim their history, eventually, as they reunite and begin to trace back through knowledge that survived.

Before the Scourge they could freely use magik, calling upon the soul of the planet itself directly to perform powerful feats now told as mythical tales. With the planet dead they are required to have an Aether crystal of some kind like everyone else, creating a deep seeded hatred for the Scourge. Yet some have embraced the future with cybernetics in an attempt to rebuild and refine to survive, and perhaps even escape through the fabled astral realm.

What every Primordial knows within their bones is that the galaxy is slowly rotting, and the other still living planets are screaming.

  • Resilient

Appearance similar to Orcs, Goblins, Dwarves, & Dragonkin

    Average Lifespan: 80-180 Years

The Resilient could not have a more apt name, their kind the first to blaze the trails for Scourge refugees to locations where hub cities were built. They're also major contributors to the now vast underground caverns and tunnels in which crops and manufacturing is housed. Were it not for them the surviving populace would have perished from malnutrition, which has become a point of pride.

While there were few magik users before they lean more towards cybernetics, putting the technology to the test every day. They are straightforward with their desires, to preserve family tradition and invest in a future of returning to the Gilded Age with a new era of such. Whether it is by Aether magik or by tech, they will pursue both routes for optimal results.

Those that worked in the deepest depths safeguard a secret of the planet herself at her request made with dying breath.

FaTED

  • Tameless

    Appearance similar to Animal Hybrids

    Average Lifespan: 60-90 Years

The Tameless are a newer race, their origins lost like the others, but it is well known they have only existed for a hundred years before the Scourge. The level of civility varies from hybrid to hybrid, some able to hold a corpo lifestyle while others are utterly feral with nearly zero social skills. Either way, they are a mystery in and of themselves, and none of the whispers ever panning out to the truth.

There seems to be no limit to the types of hybrids, from sea to air and everything in between, varying degrees of how mixed the humanoid and animalistic traits are. The stranger the hybrid the shorter their lifespan, yet none can resolve the reason as to why other than unstable DNA. Despite everything their camaraderie is the strongest out of all surviving races, often finding them forming their own family packs with individual hierarchies and traditions.

The Tameless have a silent agreement among themselves to never reveal the truth of their origin if ever resolved.

  • Deviated

    Similar appearance to Humanoid Mutants

    Average Lifespan: 60-80 Years

The Deviated did not appear until the Scourge, thus creating a difference in opinion of their existence. Some believe they are mutants of people already here while others believe they are aliens rapidly evolved from the celestial debris. Those that have studied the Deviated have not been able to determine which theory is correct, and have only pissed off the entire race because of the scientific studies.

Overall, they are an assemblage of eccentricities in multitudes and there is no other way to define the Deviated. Unfortunately the downside is they have the shortest lifespan of anyone else, those who reach the elderly years facing a menagerie of health problems because of their own genetic code. The only honest truth is that the Deviated can drink almost anyone under the table.

Wherever the Deviated came from they are here to stay, their population increasing steadily though no one ever sees mutated children.

  • Afflicted

    Aether Draining Vampires

    Average Lifespan: 50-140 Years

The Afflicted have been called the second Scourge due to their method of survival, of which most agree it's diseased greed. They do not feed off blood rather it is Aether they are addicted to and constantly hunger for. Whether a magik user or the crystals from a cybernetic, anything will do as long as they get their fix.

A parasite called a Psychophant is the driving force of the thirst, infecting a host of any race and embedding itself into its chosen part of the body. The Psychophant drains the host, thus the host must drain others otherwise they become unable to cast magik or use their cybernetics since those too are affected. It is not clear how a host becomes infected, or why, but when Aether is not supplied the parasites feasts on the soul, turning the host into a shriveled dead husk. There is currently no way to remove a Psychophant without killing the host.

The one solid fact is that the Afflicted are a threat to the survival of society.

ArCHITECTS

  • Alive

Note: This is not a player selectable race for story reasons.

The origins of the Architects are currently unknown. There is rumor they are entirely synthetic bots powered by Aether, yet when harmed they bleed a vivid seafom green.  Another theory is that they are of the planet herself, made in her last heartbeat to care for the people. Whatever they happen to be there is few of them left, with only three still living. Any city that somehow lost their Architect has been doomed to ruin.

  • Dead

Note: This is not a player selectable race for story reasons.

When an Architect dies their body turns to ash within hours. There are seven dead Architects, all of their cities now ruins.

Visual representations of each race will be given in the next few weeks. If you would like to contribute a photo of your avatar for approval and usage as an example please reach out to the Sim Owner, Null Astral.
